Making a Booking

Every event is different.  We can have a chat about what you might be looking  for and whether the kind of thing I offer might be suitable.  There is absolutely no obligation in asking!

For workshops, groups can be within one age range or open to all ages and abilities.  I do prefer to get participants actively involved, but the form this will take will depend on the participants and their capabilities and the venue itself.  Some suggestions you might want to consider - Easy Intro to Gaelic Song, Traditional Lullabies, The Story of the Song, Feel the Rhythm, Come and Try Waulking, Children's Playground Games.

For talks and presentations I mix songs into the overall presentation and they can be as formal or informal as suits your group - from a cosy sit-down led discussion to keynote conference speaker, always with infectious enthusiasm on topics such as the developmental benefits of singing with children, The Wheel of Life in traditional song, Song and Story- two sides of one tradition.

For performances, the guide costs are listed per artist - I am happy to appear solo, with a duet or with one intrumentalist, with two other vocalists and one instrumentalist, in collaboration with a storyteller or poet, or in other combinations to suit your event.  Concert spots and ceilidh appearances are always available in addition to specific shows.  Just now, I am booking performances of Haunting, whether solo, as two-hander, with three voices or full, 7-person performances; performances of Songs and Stories of Highland Perthshire with harp expert Bill Taylor and storyteller Bob Pegg; and informal performances with the ceilidh quilt along with Lizzie McDougall.

For festivals, where I can offer a combination of workshop and performance, fees can be pretty flexible.  If I am going to be at a festival anyway, I generally like to be as involved as possible, so I welcome the opportunity to present daytime workshops etc as well as an evening performance.

Costs and fees vary; as a guideline,

  • a one-off 40-60 min songtime session for young children with adults will be charged at £60 plus travel

  • a 90 min song workshop for older children or adults will be charged at £100 plus travel

  • half a day's attendance at a festival or conference leading workshops, seminars or as speaker will be charged at £150, a full day at £210, plus expences where applicable

  • evening performance set is £150 per artist, additional travel costs may be added depending on location
