Susi Briggs is a Scots language innovator, makar, screiver, workshop facilitator and storyteller. Her authentic and creative approach to her mither tongue incorporates oral and printed media and she has embraced online opportunities such as the Oor Wee Podcast. Susi is a fearless advocate of Scots on social media and is an active promoter of Scots language literacy. She recently launched her third children's book in the language, Wheesht. All her original published children’s stories and books to which she has contributed have been shortlisted for Scots Language Awards. Her work can be found in many online educational resources including Stories in Scots for BBC Scotland, Dinnae Mak me Laugh for Scots in Schools and Scots Warks for the Scots Language Centre. Her upbringing in Dumfries instilled in her an early fascination with the tales her father and grandfather shared. To convey the magic she finds in stories, she sometimes leads events for children as her alter-ego Susi Sweet Pea Fairy. Her amply-stuffed bag of talents holds stories, songs and poetry along with stories and she draws on all of them in performances. Susi's recent commissions include Trystin Thorns for the Scottish Poetry Library.
