Ross-shire Ceilidh Quilt

The Ross-shire Ceilidh Quilt

The Ross-shire Ceilidh Quilt is the focal point for performances of stories and songs collected and shared through a series of song, story, visual art and craft gatherings in Dingwall and the Black Isle led by Christina and artist Lizzie Macdougall.

The images were inspired by the participation of residents in the Marine House residential care home in Rosemarkie and visual images were developed with pupils at Dingwall Academy.  Christina and Lizzie then worked with members of the community and appliqué and quilt artist Brenda Sanders to create fabric representations in a vibrant single artwork.

The quilt comes alive with associated performances of the songs and stories it shows.  Performances are ideal in intimate spaces, such as arts centres, and for visits to groups including schools.
