Amasing - updated workshop times

31st August and 1st September

A new festival in Strathpeffer aimed at engaging young people, Amasing aspires to be much more than a chance to watch and enjoy great music.  Headline acts include Eddie Reader, Kassidy and Donnie Munro and there is a full programme of workshops, open mic stage, Q&A sessions, young singers' showcases and video conferencing with singers across the globe.

I'll be leading workshops in Gaelic singing for children, youngsters and adults on both days, included in your festival ticket.

Sat 31st August 1.10pm Strathpeffer Community Centre
Gaelic song for young people - starting with basic rhythms this workshop will work up to a complete, toe-tapping ‘puirt a beul’ (or ‘mouth music’) in Gaelic.  No previous experience of Gaelic or singing required.

Sat 31st August 4pm Strathpeffer Community Centre
Gaelic song for adults - an introduction to simple, unthreatening Gaelic songs and the fascinating stories behind them.  Complete beginners very welcome.  No previous experience of Gaelic or singing required.

Sun 1st September 3pm Strathpeffer Community Centre
Gaelic song for adults - come and try traditional ‘waulking’ involving singing highly infectious, rhythmic Gaelic songs while beating tweed fabric according to a set pattern.  Singing, stress relief and cultural participation in one workshop!  No previous experience of Gaelic or singing required.
